Halls Of Fame

Hall Of Fame

Use the HOF Locator to find your local Hall Of Fame!

This service represents the local area sports "Wiki".

Local Hall Of Fame

The sports Hall Of Fame – Local Area (HOFLA) is an important historical feature of Local Sports History.com (LSH) that's specifically designed for respectful recognition. Both HOFLA and LSH are products of Local Computerized Services (LCS). The purpose of the HOFLA service is to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the local community as regards local sports. HOFLA participation is a free “virtual” service that is housed on LSH. There will be no physical location of the HOFLA located within your community and no actual awards will be presented. Any member of the community may participate if they follow the rules of the service.  The community itself is the governing body of this service.  This is a non-controversial and politically free service.

Schools and Colleges

Local High Schools & Colleges are encouraged to participate in the HOFLA. In fact, they may have their own customized online Hall Of Fame on LSH (if they do not already have one). Regardless of the interest shown by local schools, this HOFLA will represent various sports related members of the immediate local area (usually for an area, county, town, or city). Nominees (especially athletes) of HOFLA will be those that have already graduated from high school and must be at least 18 years of age.  Nominations may also include those who are deceased.

The Induction

Inductees will have a dedicated page on a LCS website for public historical purposes. This is a local sports "Wiki" that's organically developed over time by our members.  Those who nominate qualified individuals will need to supply a detailed historical background of the person being nominated (a dignified picture may also be included on the page). The initial induction will include (up to) the top 5 nominees.  Up to three nominees will be inducted each subsequent year. Nominations may be submitted through this site anytime during the entire calendar year (ending December 31st).

The selection period will be for the top nominees (of up to 10 finalists) for the year ending December 31st.  The selection process from the list of finalists will be conducted during the month of January (ending  by January 31st) of each year.  The official induction into the local Hall Of Fame will take place no later than February 28th.  Three finalist or less for an individual local HOF will not require the induction selection step.  Up to three qualified nominees may be inducted annually, based on the nomination alone.

Those who are not inducted this year may be nominated again, if appropriate. This automated online service intends to eliminate the politics that are often associated with a Hall Of Fame process. Participants (those who submit nominations) simply need to follow the rules of HOFLA (see HOF Guidelines).  Violators of these rules may result in the disqualification of the participant (and possibly their nominee).

Qualified Nominees

You may nominated one person per submission.  Submit as many individual nominees as you wish.  That person may qualify for the HOF nomination if they have made a significant contribution towards sports in your local area, and, they receive a minimum of 3 separate nominations (from 3 different people).  Again, all nominees will be out of high school, and be at least 18 years of age.  You may even nominate candidates that you would formerly regard as your competitors (i.e., nominate someone from a rival school, district, state, etc.).  You must provide specific details on the submission form as to why you feel that your nominee qualifies for the HOF.  Areas without an already established HOFLA may require that a new LSH franchise be established to build out the HOF, or, the local school registers for a customized HOF through our Local Sports History platform.

Qualified nominees may include, but are not limited to:

  • Athletes
  • Coaches
  • Band members
  • Cheerleaders
  • Boosters
  • Businesses
  • Announcers
  • Sports Reporters
  • Mentors
